Two Events

# 1 The Sedgewood Club is hosting a Kent Candidates’ Forum in their Boathouse next Sunday, October 3, from 3  to 5 pm, that is open to all Kent residents. Located on China Pond at 1024 Barrett Circle West, the Boathouse is at the top of Kittredge Dr., which exits Route 301, just south of Clearpool Rd. in Western Kent. Candidates from both parties for Kent Town Supervisor, Kent Town Board (2 seats), Kent Town Justices, and Putnam County Sheriff have been invited and are expected to attend.

# 2 You are invited to a gathering on the back lawn/patio of the home of Carol Rosenthal and Franklin Schneier, 40 Old Forge Road, on Lake Sagamore to benefit the Kent Democratic Committee on Sunday, October 10, from 3 to 5 pm.

If you have attended these events before, you know there will be lively discussion, inspiring candidates* and a chance to bond with neighbors for the common good.

* Candidates expected to attend are Kathy Kahng for Kent Town Supervisor, Anne Campbell and Simon Carey for Town Board, Andy Wells for Town Justice and Sheriff Robert Langley, running for re-election.

Fall 2021

For safety and fun, we’re keeping our events small and, wherever possible, outdoors this year. But our candidates are big big on ideas, experience and commitment to serve. You can meet them at Team Kent.

Our September Supper/Cookout will be an online experience this year (with a date to be announced) – more fun, less food.

Join speaker Karen Smythe and Kent Democrats at our Third Annual Scholarship Dinner at McCarthy’s Restaurant (374 Route 52) on Friday, March 20, at 6:30 pm.

For $35 a head (or more, if you can), you’ll have a full meal with friends and help underwrite the scholarship we will award in May to a graduating Carmel/Kent High School senior.

We feel honored that Karen Smythe will join us that evening to speak on “Aspects of Running for Public Office,” using her experience running for the NYS Senate (District 41) in 2018 and again now in 2020.

Gather at 6:30, dinner at 7, and talk over dessert.

Fall Fund-Raiser in Western Kent

Jerry and Marie Merzon are opening their home overlooking Boyds Corner Reservoir at 68 Nimham Road, just off Route 301, for the Kent Democratic Committee’s Fall Fund-Raiser on Sunday, October 13, from 3 to 5 pm.

If you’ve attended our events before, you know the Kent Committee can give a good party.  There will be lively discussion, articulate candidates (see below) and a chance to meet neighbors you’ll like in a lovely location.
