Picnic type food – barbecue, salads, hot and cold drinks.

Games for children and adults. Meet candidates and elected officials. Make new friends.

DOT’s Adopt-a-Highway Program – 4/23/22

The Kent Democratic Committee’s spring clean-up for the section of Route 301 that the Committee maintains took place on Saturday, April, 23, 9 – 11 am. Ten large orange bags were left for pickup and the reflective vests were returned to DOT’s regional headquarters on Monday.

You are invited to a Gathering to benefit the Kent Democratic Committee on the back patio/lawn of Carol Rosenthal and Franklin Schneier, 40 Old Forge Drive, on Lake Sagamore this Sunday, October 10, from 3 to 5 pm.

It’ll be a chance to meet our Team Kent candidates* (and Sheriff Langley) one-on-one and share the experience in lively conversation with friends.  *Kathy Kahng for Supervisor, Anne Campbell and Simon Carey for Town Board, and Andy Wells for Town Justice.

While no donation level is specified, we hope that generosity and enthusiasm will flow freely.

Fall 2021

For safety and fun, we’re keeping our events small and, wherever possible, outdoors this year. But our candidates are big big on ideas, experience and commitment to serve. You can meet them at Team Kent.

Our September Supper/Cookout has been postponed for a year, the Forum in the Sedgewood Boathouse last weekend felt like it was outdoors and the Party this weekend (see above) will be outdoors.

Fall Fund-Raiser in Western Kent – 8/13/19

Jerry and Marie Merzon are opening their home overlooking Boyds Corner Reservoir at 68 Nimham Road, just off Route 301, for the Kent Democratic Committee’s Fall Fund-Raiser on Sunday, October 13, from 3 to 5 pm.

If you’ve attended our events before, you know the Kent Committee can give a good party.  There will be lively discussion, articulate candidates (see below) and a chance to meet neighbors you’ll like in a lovely location.

Celebrate the time change with brunch. – 2/24/19

On Sunday, March 10, from 11am to 1pm, celebrate the first hours of DAYLIGHT SAVINGS SAVINGS TIME with a really good BRUNCH at the home of Michele Berdy and Drew Howland, 1408 Peekskill Hollow Road.

You’ll be with neighbors, friends, and future candidates.

Since it is a fund raiser for the Kent Democrats, the suggested contribution is $35 a person or $60 per couple, but gifts of any amount are appreciated.

Running for Office: What We’ve Learned – 2/21/19

As the 2019 election cycle gets underway, join the Kent and Carmel Democratic Committees as Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, 2018 Legislative Candidate Scott Reing and Others share the experience of running for elective office – what worked and what didn’t.

Whether you’re interested in running or just like to be social, save Thursday, February 21. It’s at 7 pm at McCarthy’s Grill House, 374 Route 52, Lake Carmel.

A Raising of the Green! – 3/23/18

Join us for a St. Patrick’s Day Pub Party – proceeds to provide a scholarship for a graduating Carmel High School student.

The 2017 League of Women Voters “Meet the Candidates Forum” is scheduled for Monday, October 23, 6 – 8 pm, at the Mahopac Public Library, 668 Route 6, Mahopac, NY.

Candidates for Sheriff, County Legislature, Town Supervisor, Town Council, and Town Justice are expected to attend.

Voters in Western Kent (or from anywhere) are invited to meet Supervisor Maureen Fleming and Town Council Candidates Dale Cusack and Nancy Sorbella in a neighborly setting at the home of James Shearwood, 156 Hortontown Road, on Saturday, October 17, 12 – 2 pm.

While enjoying potluck lunch, this will be a chance to hear the plans of the Democratic candidates for the Kent Town Board.
